1965 Masters Tournament

The 1965 Masters Tournament was contested from April 8 to April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club. It was the 29th Masters Tournament. 91 players entered the tournament and 49 of them made the cut at four-over-par (148).
Jack Nicklaus scored a then Tournament record 17-under-par 271 to win his second Masters title. Nicklaus' score of 271 (-17) was equaled in 1976 by Raymond Floyd. It was beaten in 1997 by Tiger Woods when he scored a 269 (-18). Nicklaus' winning margin of nine strokes also stood until 1997 when Woods was victorious by twelve strokes.
Byron Nelson finished tied for 15th place. This would be the last time that the two-time champion would make the cut at Augusta.
Art Wall, Jr. won the Par 3 contest with a score of 20.
