Yalgogrin South is a rural community in the central north part of the Riverina. It is situated by road, about 21 kilometres north from Kamarah and 26 kilometres north from Ardlethan. It has a population within a 7 kilometre radius of approximately 98 people.[1]
The name Yalgogrin is derived from the local Aboriginal word for dead box tree.[2]
Interestingly the village of Yalgogrin formerly referred to as Yalgogrin North which lies outside of the Riverina area is actually about 40 kilometres north of Yalgogrin South, past the village of Tallimba.
