WUSF-TV is a PBS member television station in Tampa, Florida, broadcasting on analog channel 16 and digital channel 34. Owned by the University of South Florida, WUSF-TV signed on in 1966.
WUSF-TV's main rival for viewers is WEDU, one of the highest-rated public television stations in the country. However, due to its ties with USF, most of WUSF's programming is educational in nature -- especially telecourses, which WUSF shows during the afternoon and late-night hours. WUSF also known for showing a wide variety of home improvement programming, such as "Home Time", during the late 1980s and 1990s that WEDU did not regularly program.
WUSF is not available on cable in some parts of the market, including southern Sarasota County, where it is not on Comcast's Venice headend.
