WARP-CA is the MTV2 affiliate for the immediate Tampa Bay area. It is owned by the Sunshine Broadcasting Company, and broadcasts on UHF channel 20. In addition to MTV2 programming, WARP also includes break-ins for local programs and infomercials.
Like most over-the-air MTV2 affliates, it was an affiliate of The Box until that network's acquisition by Viacom in 2001.
Broadcasting on a tower on Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg, adjacent to Goodwill, WARP broadcasts on an east-west beam, towards central Pinellas County and Tampa, to protect the signals of Gainesville's WCJB-TV and Fort Myers' WBBH-TV, both also broadcasting on channel 20.
On February 19, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, WARP-CA will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").
