World Snooker Championship 1999

The 1999 Embassy World Snooker Championship took place between the 17th April to the 3rd May 1999 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield. The total prize money was £1,148,000 with £230,000 going to the winner. Stephen Hendry won his 7th title by beating Mark Williams in the final by 18 frames to 11.

Notable moments from the championship include:
- Stephen Hendry won the world title for a seventh time, a modern-day record, beating Ray Reardon and Steve Davis' six titles, and second only to Joe Davis' fifteen. Hendry won all his titles in the 1990s while Davis won his six in the 1980s and Reardon won his in the 1970s.
- Ronnie O'Sullivan attempted a 147 break in his semi-final match with Hendry. He missed the last pink on the middle pocket and his break ended at 134.
- The five players Hendry beat en route to the title have all reached at least the semi-finals at the championship.
