• Recently we trialled downsizing to a work group/task force, which didn't work out. We will remain a dependent child project of WikiProject Water sports for the time being, though if members aren't collected soon WikiProject Kayaking will die. -Pumpmeup 20:47, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Goals

• To establish a large group of members. Hopefully we can gather up lots of people interested in kayaking or canoeing in all it's forms, and some experienced editors that can help out with templates, articles, etc.
• To build a base of well-written articles with in-depth content that Wikipedians can use for encyclopedic reference and that we might use to expand on less common articles related to kayaking

Scope

• Every article that could somehow relate to Kayaking, including equipment, disciplines, boats, and anything else we can think of.

When editing articles, please keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia. If you have not already please consult with the neutral point of view guidelines. We would like all user contributions to be factual (and have citations where possible). Please use common sense when editing articles. If you see pages that are in need of further work, please feel free to add them to the todo list.

Here are some tasks you can do: Requests: Anyone with infobox creation skills - your help would be much appreciated in creating a kayaking infobox Cleanup: The Kayak Roll article would benefit from cleanup before it is expanded (below) Expand: The Kayaking article is in desperate need of expansion. Anyone with a moment to spare; we would appreciate your help. Merging the boofing article and other articles about specific techniques and moves will provide basis for expansion. It is likely to be necessary to keep separate articles for styles of kayaking (i.e. whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, etc.) The PFD article is in need of expansion or maybe adding a section about kayaking PFD's or, in whitewater, buoyancy aids The Whitewater article is in need of expansion of river features (chutes, holes, waves, etc.). Be Bold! Create new pages for different river features if necessary. The Buoyancy aid article is in desperate need of expansion by someone with good research skills. The Kayak Roll article should be expanded to include all disciplines of rolling and more general detail. Disambiguation: The Rock Island State Park page links to Eric Jackson, a Panamanian radio announcer, instead of the boater of the same name.
