WikiProject Games
WikiProject Games is, for now, just an umbrella project for all of the more topical and more active sub-projects listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory/Culture/Games. This WikiProject works on all game articles that need to be fixed. This WikiProject is being supported for the time being by Wikiproject Xbox.

[edit] Article structure
| WikiProject Games | |
|---|---|
Each article should have these main sections and paragraphs.
- Front matter (above the table of contents)
- Infobox template {{Template:Infobox Game}} (plus parameters) - see mock-up at right and Template_talk:Infobox Game for full usage information
- One or two paragraphs giving a brief record of the game's significance. Remember, on a print-out, this is the information on page #1.
- History - initial version, variants, current producer or status
- Game play - NOT a rulebook, but a few paragraphs briefly overviewing the game. If some mechanics (like shuffling) are not unique to the game, link the term to a generic article, but no need to go into detail.
- References (with cited sources)

[edit] Hierarchy definition
Games can be classified into Board Games, Card Games, Word Games, Role Playing Games, War Games, Strategy Games, Casino Games, Parlor Games, and others. Each game can be listed in one or more classifications.
See this example on dividing a topic into a hierarchy.

[edit] Talk pages
The project now has a banner at {{WikiProject Games}}. This banner is for placement on article talk pages. Note: This banner should not be used if a more specific gaming project banner could apply. I.e., there are really very, very few game articles whose talk pages should have this banner on them - only those that are not under some category of games for which there is a project (board and table games, card games, etc. - see #Hierarchy definition). The banner also should not be placed on the talk pages of articles that are sports more than simple recreational games; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports for their banner and (more practically) for their subprojects which have their own banners.
