This project was created so expert Xbox 360 and Xbox users can share their knowledge with people that want to learn more about this topic or people who understand how to make great articles and then show newcomers how to do the same. It is for die-hard Xbox players to learn about new games and to also share there knowledge to others. In short, we want the Wikipedia community to get the best out of this Wikiproject. This project deals with all articles related with both Xbox and Xbox 360. We hope all readers and editors enjoy and learn something from this site.

Scope

Note To Members

I would first like to thank everyone who has helped build this project. I would say that the Xbox Project site is one of most cleanest, organized, and detailed project sites I've seen. Now that the project up and running, it's time to start working on the related Xbox articles. There are several articles that need to be cleaned up, updated and expanded. It is our job to make sure these articles are up to date with correct information. There are a number of articles already listed under “Tasks” that need to be worked on. Xbox 360 Dashboard

The Xbox 360's graphical user interface GUI is the Xbox 360 Dashboard; a tabbed interface that features five "Blades" (formerly four blades), and was designed by AKQA. It can be launched automatically when the console boots up without a disc, or when the disc tray is ejected. However, the user may choose to launch a game automatically if a disc is inserted. A simplified version of it can also be accessed at any time via the Xbox Guide button on the gamepad. This simplified version shows the user's gamercard, Xbox Live messages and friends list. It also allows for personal and music settings, in addition to voice or video chats, or returning to the primary Dashboard from the game.

Since the console's release, Microsoft has released several updates for the Dashboard software. These updates have included adding new features to the console, enhancing Xbox Live functionality and multimedia playback cabilities, adding compatibility for new accessories, and fixing bugs in the software. The latest Dashboard update, revision 2.0.6683, was made available on December 4, 2007.

  • February 20: The sequel to the critically acclaimed Gears of War is announced. It is suggested that all members add Gears of War 2 to their watchlist as it has been a popular target of vandals.
  • The hit video game Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas will be coming out with it's new sequel Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. It will be coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Rainbow Six franchise.
  • It was annouced that there will be a Call of Duty 5. It has been confirmed that Infinity Ward will not be developing the game. It has been confirmed that the game will be developed by Treyarch. The game will take place during World War II and will not be a "Modern Warfare" game like Call of Duty 4. This is going to be a big upset for many of the fans of Modern Warfare, supported by the fact that many professional reviewers and hardcore fans feel the WWII theme has been used too many times.

  • MS Exec John Schappert announce Xbox 360 sales top 18 Million units. [1]
  • Microsoft cuts the price of the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on drive to US$129.99. [2]
  • The highly anticipated formerly PlayStation 3 exclusive game Devil May Cry 4 debuts on Xbox 360. [3]
  • Ensemble Studios confirms that the upcoming game Halo Wars is an Xbox 360 exclusive, denying any plans for a PC version. [4]
