From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WikiProject Classical Music aims to improve, expand, cleanup, and maintain all articles related to classical music, that aren't covered by other classical music related projects. Its participants help sort stubs and source statements made throughout the world of classical music to provide a comprehensive documentation of classical music — including historical and musicological analysis.

[edit] To-do lists
There is also a handy list of open tasks, which are articles requiring verification, cleanup, expansion etc. If you want to find an article to improve, this is a good place to start.
[edit] Project banner
Any article which falls under the scope of WikiProject Classical music should be tagged as such by adding the following on the talk page: {{Classical}}
This banner should appear:
A category containing all articles with this banner on its talk page can be found here. However, this is not an exhaustive list of all articles within the scope of WikiProject Classical music as there may be articles which have not yet been tagged. If you feel the article requires urgent attention, please instead tag the talk page with {{Classical|attention=yes}}. A list of all articles that have been tagged as requiring urgent attention is here.
[edit] Stub template
Any article that qualifies as a stub as per WP:STUB should be tagged as such by adding one the following at the end of the article as appropriate:
{{classical-composition-stub}}
This tag should appear:
{{classical-musician-stub}}
This tag should appear:
{{classical-ensemble-stub}}
This tag should appear:
{{classical-music-stub}} (only use if previous categories do not apply)
This tag should appear:
Please note that the tag should be removed once the article has been expanded. In addition, please consider rating the article in the project banner on the talk page (see below).
[edit] Rating articles
There is no internal WikiProject rating system for articles at the moment, so articles should only rated with a class on the assessment scale if they are listed as a stub or have been selected as a good article or a featured article. Only in these three cases should the talk page be tagged with {{Classical|class=stub}}, {{Classical|class=GA}} or {{Classical|class=FA}} respectively.
[edit] Article guidelines
For guidelines on articles about works of classical music, please see the relevant section of the Compositions task force.
[edit] Biographical infoboxes
Current consensus among project participants holds that the use of biographical infoboxes is often counterproductive on biographies of classical musicians, including conductors and instrumentalists. They should not be used without first obtaining consensus on the article's talk page. This position is in line with that reached by the participants at the Composers Project and the Opera Project.
The following archives document the various infobox discussions:
- Classical Music Project: [1] [2] [3]
- Composers Project: [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] (scroll down) [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
