Group D of the 2008 UEFA European Championships is one of four groups of competing nations at UEFA Euro 2008. The first round of matches were played on 10 June, with the final round scheduled for 18 June. All six group matches will be played at venues in Austria, in Innsbruck and Salzburg. The group is comprised of UEFA Euro 2004 winners and reigning Champions Greece, as well as Sweden, Spain and Russia. Greece, Spain and Russia had all been drawn together in the same group in the previous European Championship.
Spain started their campaign with a 4-1 defeat of Russia, during which David Villa scored the first hat-trick of the tournament. Sweden, with goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Petter Hansson beat the Greeks 2-0, and are scheduled to play Spain on 14 June. The winners of this game will secure victory of the group if the match between Greece and Russia finishes in a draw.
