Dude, we celebrate Christmas, X-mass, Giftmas, Halloween, ANZAC Day. Any excuse for a party on this rock, as for the language, most Australians can speak an advanced level of drunken-slur. I can't blame you on the Cairns thing. Woolloomooloo has 6 o's. IMO, that's 5 o's too many. Why does it need 6? Why? Who would want to live there? The whole place is a joke.

At this point, it would be difficult for me to participate. I've been told I'll be blocked if I contribute an "inappropriate" article. Since I already know the written rules reasonably well, appropriateness would probably hinge on the unwritten guidelines that CastAStone alluded to. I'm not sure that there's any way to know what they are.
It doesn't make sense to me that I should be kept this way from writing articles. In the real world, I have several books, about a dozen chapters and peer-reviewed articles, and some forty publications prepared for company stakeholders. Granted, one of the books is my dissertation.
I agree with you wholeheartedly on the system for learning policies. I've noticed what seem to be conflicts among policy and guideline pages. More striking still are several subtle but important omissions, which give me the impression that editors haven't reached consensus on key points. Finally, pages like WP: Deletion largely describe things that you can or may do. If you don't do them, it comes as a shock when the punishment is sudden, harsh, and maybe even irrevocable. This is one reason why I didn't think all deleted articles had to go through deletion review. The page WP: Deletion said nothing stronger than "you can request review…"

Hello - I notice that the article about The Fearrington House has been deleted for blatent advertising. I would like to request to edit this page to make it more objective so that it can be un-deleted. The Fearrington House is a very famous restaurant that has been in operation for nearly 30 years, and all information in that article can be verified in the sources listed in the posting. It is listed in the Wiki article about Destination Restaurants, and it would be nice if that mention could link to a page about the restaurant. The Inn at Little Washington has an article that has not been deleted, so I hope I can make the Fearrington article more similar to that one and maybe it will stick around. Thank you! Please read the talk page before redirecting - the template said to read below. The request is to delete all those pages because the word is not closely related enough to toxin to warrant a redirect, as I'm sure you'll agree. While I agree with the deletion, the redirect wasn't actually based on a typo. It was based on the fictional use of element 118, which they called "Accurentum", in an episode of Star Trek before its discovery in real chemistry.

I have done some work since you last visited Rick Roeber and recommended for AFD. While a lot of the links to media notability were deleted by Grey Wanderer, it is still pretty clear that the guy has notability. [edit] Deletion Danbury Local School District, Ohio

I don't know that it was best to delete the county name from the title, since the school district pages I am editing are all set up that way by the List of School districts in Ohio page. Also in some situations the county will need to be listed, such as their are two North Central Local School Districts one in Williams County, and one in Wayne County.

I don't know if that was best though since this is suppose to be school districts; but the information feels like it needs to be listed. I think the notability of smashLAB stems from 1) their creation of Design Can Change, the only initiative of its kind and an internationally recognized project, and 2) ideasonideas, their widely read blog and highly regarded in their industry (see recognition) where graphic design luminaries have engaged in discussion. Both projects are non-profit.

What I mean is, the effect of blocking someone with whom you are engaged in an MfD, for whatever reason, is similar to that you advised Squeaky of, about the AfD in which he is involved.

"given your involvement and personal interest in this AfD, it tends to provoke stronger responses than if third parties step in to deal with them." -plus it can seem wrong to block, given your involvement with the editor even if not with one of the pages involved. Not saying your block wasn't ok, but it would seem better if someone else did it.

TB, Based solely and completely on SSB's faith and confidence in you - "I'm concerned not with the chance that you did something improper (which I view as remote at best)" he said - I accept that your recent series of blocks were intended to be and believed to be proper and unbiased. I absolutely do not believe that they were justified, based on a fairly literal reading or WP:CANVAS, but if SSB believes that you were not intentionally acting with impropriety, I accept the same.
  • Regarding a comment you made on the ANI - "although, given that an XfD runs for five days, a 24 hour block will not affect the outcome" - I think that while that may seem to be the simple case, human nature makes this absolutely incorrect. If any discussion is leaning heavily one direction, more and more people agreeing with that side will be motivated to post and those disagreeing less so. In addition, and more important, many may vote and leave it be. Without the opportunity to refute initial claims in the first 24 hours, these opinions and comments will stand even if the user would have "voted" otherwise when given more background. The timing of the block was of vital import and may have doomed the page entirely. (Ultimately, that's fine as I have no desire to work on it myself and hope and have seen others take it over. It still needs work, but it is getting farther away from the appearance of a rant-page and more toward a discussion page; that was the intent and hope.)
  • Regarding the block, this is my biggest contention (and why I can be understandably upset): Even if those messages were canvassing (which they were not), the final one was left on 17:10, 19 January 2008, and your "warning" wasn't until 17:09, 19 January 2008, as I was finishing. I immediately responded with policy-based rationale and justification, evidencing that there was no canvassing, at 17:20, 19 January 2008. Instead of answering with any sort of reason why you would consider it canvassing in spite of the policy-based justifications I gave (and I'm not saying it wasn't possible necessarily), you simply replied, at 17:23, 19 January 2008, "I'm not interested in debating with you". How am I supposed to follow policy if an admin won't discuss it with me? It sounded like an admission of error on your part. Still, though, more than half an hour after the final neutrally-worded message, you blocked me, at 17:44, 19 January 2008. In the interim, I even had two thanks for the notices, noting that they were neutral. Can you see why I am and was so confused and upset? The block comes more than half an hour after the alleged cause of it ended. It appeared entirely retributional.
  • I wanted to give you my perspective on it. I often will go to other users to ask for their perspective and seek guidance on whether or not I'm being rational in my interpretations of others' actions or in my read of comments (and most often, I am perfectly justified, perfectly understanding, and perfectly neutral by all accounts).
Like I said, though, I absolutely give you the benefit of the doubt per SSB's comments. Maybe in the (near) future, I'll give you a "call" when personal attacks start up again and provide you the opportunity to prove that equality to me and others who have expressed their concern, by blocking someone when they go out name-calling and the like.
Otherwise, thank you for your continued "service" as an admin. Best of luck avoiding these conflicts of interest in the future.

TB, I have a need-someone-really-experienced question, and due to our recent convos I thought you'd be the best person to ask. I recently contributed to a (very-heavily debated) DRV, at great length, and I think at least that I did so from a very neutral-ish, policy-based, painfully-civil manner. I was wondering if this was appropriate by the next editor (within minutes). I specifically wanted to ask you to also get an evaluation of the civility (or lack thereof, if that be the case) of my lengthy comments. While I think they were fine, an outside opinion would be appreciated. If they were, and if the above link's actions were not appropriate, would you be able to or notify someone who could take whatever fixes are necessary? I promised that I would only post once (fixing my sig I don't consider "counting"!) and really do not want to go back, though I feel the very valid points are being wholly missed by the community because of their (lack of) location. I wish to object to the deletion of the article on Canadian Chef Martin Picard. Martin Picard is probably the best known Canadian Chef outside of Canada. He was the only Canadian chef asked to be included in the book "My Last Supper: 50 Great Chefs and Their Final Meals / Portraits, Interviews, and Recipes" by Melanie Dunea which features profiles of Gordon Ramsay, Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain and other food celebrities. He was featured in a 2004 article by Anthony Bourdain for Gourmet Magazine, and again in Bourdain's book "The Nasty Bits", and again on the Quebec episode in season two of Bourdain's televison show, No Reservation. He was featured in a December 3, 2007 article in the New Yorker "Red White and Bleu" by Bill Buford who characterized his restaurant Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal as "the most immoderate, unreservedly unhealthy eating establishment in North America." Au Pied sells more foie gras than any other restaurant in North America. Is this enough information on "the significance of the subject" for you? If not, I'm happy to provide more.

They are also canvassing for Croatians to come and edit-war and/or otherwise remove Serbian language from the article [7]. Thanks for the encouragement Tijuana Brass. It's nice to hear positive feedback on my first article edit. I'm going to do the United States Council for International Business next . [edit] Deleted House of Floyd page

TJB - love the name, and the group. A while back there was a dustup over articles related to Pink Floyd cover bands and one that I created was apparently deleted for lack of notability. Sometime in the next couple of months there will be an article about House of Floyd in Guitar World Magazine, which should/could provide the requisite notability required to keep the House of Floyd page. When that happens I'd prefer to work from the old wiki page, rather than redo thing from scratch. Any chance you can put this page soemewhere where I can get to it?
