"The Heretic Anthem" is the first single by metal band Slipknot from their second album, the 2001, Iowa. In 9.0 Live, Corey stated that the song was made because of the people who were like the record labels who refused to sign a deal with the band. This can be related to the lyrics "I bleed for this and I bleed for you, Still you look in my face like I'm somebody new, Toy, nobody wants anything Ive got, Which is fine because you're made of everything I'm not"

The song has been released in two separate promotional formats. Prior to the release of Iowa, it was released as a single track promo in Germany under the title "Heretic Song (Rough)" but when the album was released the track was named "The Heretic Anthem". It was later released on a promotional enhanced single prior to the released of the band's second DVD, Disasterpieces, which included an audio track and a video of the song's performance from the DVD.
