Spit It Out was the second single to be released by the metal band Slipknot, from their eponymous debut album.
The meaning behind the song was born from those who never thought the band would amount to anything. The chorus, "Spit it out! All you wanna do is drag me down. All I wanna do is stamp you out. Spit it out!" reflects this attitude.

[edit] Release
There was a dispute over the release of this song. Band members Mick Thomson and Shawn Crahan were very enthusiastic about releasing "Surfacing" when the band were deciding which track to release from the album. However, after weeks of disputing and consideration, "Spit It Out" was chosen to be released.
[edit] Music Video
The video consists of cuts between a live performance of the song and a parody of The Shining done by the band. With Joey Jordison as Daniel Torrance, Shawn Crahan and Chris Fehn as the hallway twins, Corey Taylor as Jack Torrance, Mick Thomson as Lloyd the bartender, Craig Jones as Dick Hallorann and Jim Root as Shelley Torrence. Paul Gray and Sid Wilson are shown briefly between cuts.
[edit] "Zero Bullshit"
During live performances, the band includes something they refer to as the "Zero Bullshit." This is shown in the music video as well as the "Disasterpieces" DVD. Near the end of the song there is a coda section where the music and singing builds up to a highly energetic section where Corey screams "Fuck me, I'm all out of enemies!" repeatedly. Before this begins, he tells the audience to crouch down and to jump up when he says "Jump the fuck up." He says this at the end of the coda, replacing the line 'good enough, had enough'.
