- This article is about the chain of for-profit art schools. The Art Institutes (often abbreviated as Ai) is a collection of private, for-profit educational institutions for career preparation in the visual, creative, and applied arts, including design, media, fashion, and culinary programs. There are 41 Art Institutes located in major cities across North America, and have over 125,000 graduates. The Art Institute Online [1], a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, also has online courses available. The Art Institutes awards master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, associate’s degrees, and non-degree-program certificates. Ai is headquartered in Pittsburgh, and is a division of Education Management Corporation (EDMC). Educational accreditation of The Art Institutes and their programs varies among campuses and programs; the accreditation status and career orientation of the institutions and their programs may cause some students to experience difficulty in transferring Ai credits or with enrolling in graduate-level college/university programs.

- Two graduates from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, were given their own show on Food Network. The show is called 2 Dudes Catering[2].
- Tennis star Venus Williams graduated Cum Laude with an Associate of Science degree in Fashion Design from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale on December 13, 2007 [3] [4].
- Ty Pennington of Trading Spaces and Extreme Home Makeover graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Atlanta. [5]
- Carol Guzy in 1995 and Martha Rial in 1998 are now the only two women to have won a Pulitzer Prize for photojournalism. Both are Art Institute graduates. [6] [7]
- Dean Zulich of the VH1 reality show "The Shot" graduated with a degree in photography from The Art Institute of Seattle in March of 2007. [8]
