The Art Institute of Houston – is one of The Art Institutes, a system of more than 40 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts.


Founded in 1965 as the Houston School of Commercial Art, the school joined The Art Institutes system of schools in 1978 and moved to its current facility in 1990 [1].


Located at 1900 Yorktown Street in the Houston Galleria area of Houston, Texas, The Art Institute of Houston is one of three locations of The Art Institutes system located in Texas and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) [2].


The Art Institutes system is a subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
