Which of the challenges did you complete? Can I have your diffs? --SharkfaceT/C 01:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For taking the challenge and warning 100 vandals, I, SharkfaceT/C, hereby award you this barnstar. Good job! --SharkfaceT/C 03:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Enjoy! By the way, can I get a list of diffs for your AIV reports? For some reason your use contribs page is lagging me terribly (I have no idea why) and as such I haven't been able to find all 50 of them. Thanks! --SharkfaceT/C 03:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

UAA

Just an FYI. Non-English usernames are not a reason for a block. With WP:SUL, we are going to be seeing a lot more of them. Thanks. KnightLago (talk) 17:17, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Another note, I'm removing a lot of your reports. Please re-read WP:U before reporting additional names; a lot of your provided reasons are rather bogus. EVula // talk // // 17:19, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for the pileon, but please use {{uw-username}} to discuss things with users before bringing them to UAA. UAA is only for blatant violations - while I realize you're trying to help, you've been flooding UAA with a lot of names that don't need blocking. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:22, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you please elaborate when i would use this template and can you give me a example with some names that i have reported thank you kindly.

Staffwaterboy Talk 17:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

To avoid edit conflicts, I'm working on it. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I removed your reports on:
  • Ganny owner[1]
  • غدوره [2]
  • DeeJayshouldvestayedatMicrosoft[3] (though it could have been blockable for length, I didn't consider it blatant enough to warrant a block)
  • Acewagstaff[4]
  • Freshgang[5]
  • Hillary92[6]
Explanations are provided in the diffs, though I'll be happy to expand upon any you find confusing. EVula // talk // // 17:31, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I have a question about a few of them Acewagstaff this would not be a promotional for a company/organization,Ganny owner it sounds like this person likes to "own" grandmothers which is not good especially owning someone unless of course this just and expression but i still would find it offensive.Freshgang this username sound like it is related to a gang of some type this is not as bad now that i look at it but still.... This username DeeJayshouldvestayedatMicrosoft sounds like that it is a personal attack on a person.

Thank you for your quick response and help

Staffwaterboy Talk 17:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

(smacks EVula for edit conflicting) Acewagstaff could probably be blockable, depending on their edits, but I'd prefer they have a chance to edit so we can confirm that are actually trying to promote. As for Ganny owner, I don't think that's what they were going for and I don't see it offensive at all, just nonsensical as most of our names are. Gang affiliations aren't a reason to block in of themselves - if they turn out to be disruptive, we'll block them for that later on. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:43, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
[smacks Hersfold right back for edit conflicting] Well, I've never heard "Ganny" be used as a synonym for "grandmother"; I think you might be mis-reading that. The Microsoft one isn't really an attack; if it was "DeeJayisanidiot", yes, it would be. As for "Freshgang", gang has plenty of non-violent connotations, and unless it's a specific reference to a specific gang, it isn't a violation. You might want to read WP:AGF as well; we don't need to assume that these names are negative when we have no evidence of it. EVula // talk // // 17:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the quick response i am still wondering when it would be necessary to use the {uw-username}} tag also i did misread ganny lol but thank you again for the quick response.

Staffwaterboy Talk 17:52, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Pretty much anything you think may be a violation, but isn't blatant. Acewagstaff might be good, as would the Arabic name and Freshgang; I wouldn't bother with Ganny owner or anything similar, unless you knew of a User:Ganny that they may be trying to impersonate (poorly). The username policy should give some instructions on how to do that. Be aware, though, that {{uw-username}} is not {{uw-ublock}}, which you put in a report earlier. uw-ublock is a block notice, which should only be added by administrators after the user has been blocked. Do not put uw-ublock on a talk page. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:04, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Reporting the user named "BrittaniP(:" was particularly inappropriate. Are you just trying to get someone blocked? rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 19:13, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

For a username to be promotional, the name must be part of the promotion; reports to UAA should not relate to conduct except inasmuch as the conduct speaks to a problem with the name. I am, of course, referring to User:Themikeman3. SamBC(talk) 15:24, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Also, confusing usernames (such as User:Hgkjasduyngpserioads) are not supposed to be blocked without discussion, and as such are not generally suitable for reporting to WP:UAA; please review the policy. I'm afraid that Twinkle is a little behind on changes to the policy. SamBC(talk) 15:24, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Antique tool

Hey whats up you made a link on the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antique_tool All I did was add a link to the bottom of the page for my webpage [7] http://www.gardentooletc.com/Antique%20Garden%20Tractors.html. It is good for me and wikipedia to have that there because both are relavant. If you have any questions or comments please let me know andre_s_brown@yahoo.com. P.S. thanks for the cookies lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andre7775 (talkcontribs) 20:12, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Diffs

This is a diff. Go to your contribs and click the links for diffs (listed in a row). I want diffs for all your supposed AIV bans (all 20) and AIV reports (all 50). That's only 70 links and shouldn't take too long. --SharkfaceT/C 02:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Of course, take all the time you need. --SharkfaceT/C 02:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I am mostly going to start tomorrow i am about to sign out.Of course if that is not a problem

Staffwaterboy Talk Guestbook 02:25, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Very well. Drop me a line when you have compiled both lists. --SharkfaceT/C 02:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Here they are. All of this also resulted in the user being ban.

I was sent a vandalism message, but it wasn't my ip address. Why would that happen?

NYC Meetup: June 1, 2008

New York City Meetup

Next: Sunday June 1st, Columbia University area
Last: 3/16/2008
This box: view  talk  edit

In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, elect a board of directors, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).

We'll also review our recent Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, and make preparations for our exciting successor Wiki Week bonanza, being planned with Columbia University students for September or October.

In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.

You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.

Also, check out our regional US Wikimedia chapters blog Wiki Northeast (and we're open to guest posts).

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace, so that is what I will do. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:25, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of DJ Enuff

A tag has been placed on DJ Enuff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
