Slobozia sub-district, Transnistria

Slobozia sub-district is an administrative sub-district of Transnistria, Moldova. Its seat is Slobozia, located at 46°44′N, 29°42′E. The sub-district contains also 3 other cities: Crasnoe, Dnestrovsc, Tiraspolul Nou, and 12 communes: Blijnii Hutor, Caragaş, Cioburciu, Corotna, Frunză, Hlinaia, Nezavertailovca, Parcani, Pervomaisc, Sucleia, Târnauca, and Vladimirovca

It is the southernmost sub-district of Transnistria, located south of Tiraspol. The city of Slobozia had a population of 19,000 at the census in 1989, and an estimated 12,300 people in the 2004 census. The population of the city of Slobozia is mostly made up of a Romanian/Moldovan plurality, while Russians and Ukrainians are important minorities. Another city, Dnestrovsk had a population of roughly 11,200 people (most people there are Ukrainian and Russian).
