The Shepperton branches off the Kingston Loop at Teddington, and connects into the Waterloo to Reading Line at Twickenham. It is often also referred to as simply the Shepperton Line.
The line opened on 1 November 1864, accessed from the Strawberry Hill direction only. The curve linking Fulwell and Teddington opened to freight on 1 July 1894 and first carried passengers on 1 June 1901. The line was electrified (750v DC third rail) on 1 January 1916.
