The Chertsey Branch branches off the South Western Main Line at Weybridge, and connects into the Waterloo to Reading Line at Virginia Water railway station. It is often also referred to as simply the Weybridge Line.
This line was electrified (750v DC third rail) in the late 1930s by Southern.
The principal places served are
- Virginia Water
- Branches off Waterloo to Reading Line
- Chertsey
- Addlestone
- Weybridge
- Connects with the South Western Main Line
[edit] Services
The branch is served by a direct service to London Waterloo station via Staines every half an hour, but this calls at all stations on the route and takes the longer route via Hounslow. It is possible to catch a faster train by changing at Staines or Weybridge, saving 5 minutes. On Sundays, there is only one train per hour and instead of running to Weybridge, it joins with the South Western Main Line and continues to Woking, calling at all stations.
