[edit] Gp75motorsports
(1/15/2); closed per WP:SNOW at 6:05 December 12, 2007 by Rdsmith4 (talk · contribs)
Gp75motorsports (talk · contribs) - I've been a Wikipedian for two years now and am currently entered in an ARBCOM case. I've edited many articles and tried to help as much as I can. I want to be an admin so I can help more. --Gp75motorsports (talk) 22:18, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I, Gp75Motorsports, hereby accept this nomination. Okay. I know that last time I entered an RFA I only had 176 edits, but now I have over 1000, so I've got some for-real experience under my belt.
[edit] Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I'd mainly help with CSD related stuff and patrol Newpages. I also like to help resolve edit wars.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I believe my overall best contribution to this amazing site would have to be The Dragon on the Bookshelf. I struggled for four hours thinking about how I should word it, and since that happened nobody but Sbacle has been able to find a way to make it better.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: One with Giovanni Giove, resulting in his getting banned for incivility and sockpuppetry. I tried to give him a fair hearing, but he didn't provide any evidence whatsoever.

[edit] Discussion
- This is your second RfA? It's normal convention to create a new page for your second (or third, fouth...) requests. Redrocketboy 22:33, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've notified the user of this on his talkpage. ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 22:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Recommend that the candidate withdraws post haste to prevent WP:SNOW :-( ScarianTalk 22:58, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've fixed the page per WP:RFA/N. The history of contribs for the second RFA may be found here ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 23:23, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Support
- This is a moral support, to avoid piling on. I urge the candidate to withdraw, as I think the consensus here is pretty obvious already. Suggest candidate re-reads admin policies and guidelines, and get some more experience in lots of areas. Thanks. Redrocketboy 22:49, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Oppose
- Oppose - Answers to questions aren't particularly satisfying. Plus, I think the candidate lacks experience. Sorry. ScarianTalk 22:32, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Buddy, you have not got two years experience [1], at least not under this username. Please, seek editor review or adoption. You're doing great, it's appreciated, but with about 1k edits, with not enough use of the edit summary, and far to much activity on user pages than the main space or project space, this stands no chance. please, save yourself some hurt and withdraw. I'd be happy to adopt you, as I'm sure many others would, but now is not the time for another RfA. Best wishes though. Pedro : Chat 22:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose per this recent comment [2]. No need to beat a dead horse. ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 22:40, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- No This user needs more experience. NHRHS2010 talk 22:44, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Way too little experience, either time-wise or in number of edits. Please, do spare yourself the pain of a protracted pile-on, withdraw the self-nom and take up the idea of adoption or coaching. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 22:46, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose I have encountered the user a few times and am not at all sure that he is possessed of the deliberative, mature temperament that one hopes to find in an admin; there is not, though, enough of a record here from which to draw any firmer conclusions with respect to the candidate's fitness for adminship, and so I am not able to conclude with any confidence that the net effect on the project of the candidate's being sysop(p)ed should be positive. - Sorry your oppose didn't get copied into this page. ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 23:30, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. Joe 01:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry your oppose didn't get copied into this page. ~Sasha Callahan (Talk) 23:30, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Strong oppose; Taunting a banned editor [3] is, like, the opposite of proper admin behavior. — Coren (talk) 23:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Coren and answers to questions. Many will not consider 1000 edits as sufficient still, by the way. Jack?! 00:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose The answers to the questions were a bit weak and you have shown a bit of incivility back there. However, I believe that your future is bright and one day you will be a great editor. Marlith T/C 00:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Strong oppose per [4]. Tim Q. Wells (talk) 01:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose The lack of experience is a major concern here. --Siva1979Talk to me 01:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Coren's diffs, To Gp75mototsports, please consider archiving your talk page. Icestorm815 (talk) 02:37, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - Per abovecomments. You should withdraw now to save yourself the pain of going the full 7 days. PookeyMaster (talk) 03:12, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- It seems that there are better ways that you could have said that. WODUP 04:02, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Strong maturity and judgement concerns. Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Gp75motorsports/Wikipedia Users' Alliance amongst many, many others. I strongly believe this user is not ready for adminship. Daniel 04:09, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am unconvinced that the candidate fully understands the point of Wikipedia, considering the main article space is only 8% of the user's contributions (compared with 14% in the User namespace, and 50% in the User talk namespace). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not Facebook. While communicating with friends on-wiki certainly isn't bad (I know I'm certainly active in talking to several editors in a jovial fashion), such communication should not represent such an enormous bulk of your edits. EVula // talk // ☯ // 04:37, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Neutral
- Neutral. Though you only want to help, I suggest you get a lot more experience if you wish to become an admin. Sorry, •Malinaccier Public• T/C 23:09, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have seen some good judgment and insight from Gp75motorsports, but the message on User:Giovanni Giove is indicative of a possible problem regarding dealing with blocked users. Would be more than willing to support after some more time/experience here. Keep up the good work! GracenotesT § 23:49, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I actually didn't have a username before. I spent most of my time during the first 2 1/2 years reading under an IP. --Gp75motorsports (talk) 00:36, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- And also, I tried to apply for admin coaching, but the guy moved me to the "Former" list without even giving me a lesson. :_( --Gp75motorsports (talk) 00:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Really? :( Try again – it'll likely be worth it. Cheers, GracenotesT § 03:08, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
