The Redcar Bears are a British Speedway team. They currently compete in the Premier League. Captain of the team is 1992 World Champion Gary Havelock.
In 2007 the Bears won their first major honour, beating the Birmingham Brummies to win the Young Shield. A day after beating Birmingham they completed a double by beating the Newcastle Diamonds to win the Tyne-Tees Trophy for a second successive season.

[edit] 2008 Season
Redcar started their campaign with the traditional season opener - the Premier Trophy, drawing at home versus Newcastle and beat Sheffield for their first win of the season. At Scunthorpe, American Chris Kerr sustained a broken leg in the 45-45 draw and the injury will keep him out for a long period. The Bears lost away at Stoke, Newcastle and Sheffield to complete all the Premier Trophy away fixtures.
The Redcar Bears won their first Premier League meeting of the season away at Newport, 47-46, and this is their only league meeting to date.
