[edit] Regarding importance

I cannot find the source at the moment, but am certain that I read that at one time, in New Orleans, the Ramos Gin Fizz was so popular that the bar where it was invented had over twenty "shaker boys" on staff every night just to shake the drinks, and that even so, there was a long line at the bar to get them. Pretty important to New Orleans pop culture of the time, I'm certain. 65.196.201.224 20:10, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Importance and copyright violation

This is an interesting drink, but I do not think it warrants its on page. I am creating another page on Fizzes to put a revised version there.

This move is being requested by participants of the Mixed Drinks WikiProject involved in the cleanup and assessment of mixed drinks/cocktails articles.

Unlike Gin Fizz [the other article involved] this article was not flagged for merging or deletion, but it has been flagged with non-notable, unreferenced, and stub tags for quite a while.
Like the Gin Fizz, in its current form, it is largely a recipe (which is not desirable at Wikipedia), but there is additional good information that has been kept and merged into the new Fizz (cocktail) article.
This cocktail is shared with WikiProject New Orleans. I will be mentioning this merge to that project as well as adding their banner to the new article. I am a little concerned that they might feel that we are diluting their article's importance. Hopefully they will agree that a healthy article is better than a sickly one.
