Palos Township is located in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 53,419 at the 2000 census. Palos Township includes the villages of Palos Park and Palos Hills, as well as the western portions of Palos Heights and Hickory Hills.

Palos Township is bordered by Harlem Avenue (Illinois Route 43) on the east, 135th Street on the south, Will-Cook Rood on the west and 87th Street on the north. The northwest border with DuPage County is along the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal (managed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago) which connects Lake Michigan with the Mississippi River.

To the east of Palos Township is Worth Township, to the south is Orland Township, to the west is Lemont Township, and to the north is Lyons Township. To the northwest is Downers Grove Township in DuPage County, to the northeast is Stickney Township, to the southeast is Bremen Township and to the southwest is Homer Township in Will County.
