Hickory Hills is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 13,926 at the 2000 census.

Hickory Hills is located at (41.723832, -87.827054)[1].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 13,926 people, 5,216 households, and 3,698 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,913.0 people per square mile (1,900.0/km²). There were 5,332 housing units at an average density of 1,881.1/sq mi (727.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.89% White, 1.24% African American, 0.23% Native American, 2.08% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.38% from other races, and 3.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.11% of the population, including 6.6% of Mexican descent.
The top five non-Hispanic ancestries reported in Hickory Hills as of the 2000 census were Polish (26.9%), Irish (19.9%), German (17.2%), Italian (10.7%) and Arab (5.5%).[3]
There were 5,216 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $54,779, and the median income for a family was $61,972. Males had a median income of $46,606 versus $30,977 for females. The per capita income for the city was $23,747. About 4.7% of families and 5.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.6% of those under age 18 and 5.6% of those age 65 or over.

Hickory Hills is in Illinois' 3rd congressional district.

A majority of elementary and middle school students attend North Palos School District 117. Others attend schools in Indian Springs District 109. District 117 students then attend Amos Alonzo Stagg High School while District 109 students continue their education at Argo Community High School.
