Deutsch: Unter dem U-Bahnhof Brighton Beach an der BMT Brighton Line, Blickrichtung Westen.
Obwohl etwa ein Drittel der New Yorker U-Bahn-Strecken wie hier aufgeständert sind, werden solche Abschnitte ebenso als „subway“ bezeichnet. Als Hochbahn werden in New York nur solche aufgeständerten Strecken angesehen, die aus der Zeit vor dem Triborough-Plan stammen und nicht für die breiteren und schwereren U-Bahn-Wagen verstärkt worden sind. Die letzte dieser „(old) els“ ging am 4. Oktober 1969 außer Betrieb. English: Beneath Brighton Beach station at the BMT Brighton Line, looking westwards.
Although about one third of the new york subway system has been built like an elevated railroad, such lines are also being called “subway”. Only elevated lines built before the triborough plan, that were not reinforced to carry heavy subway equipment are commonly being referred to as an “(old) el”. The last one ceased operation on October 4, 1969. |
