Northsound 2 is a commercial local radio station serving Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland on 1035kHz on the medium wave band, though it can be heard further afield in Orkney and the Highlands. Northsound 2 plays classic oldies, with chat, occasional competitions, local, national and international news and sport including local weather. Northsound 2 also broadcasts a weekly segment of Scottish Traditional music and Soul music on Sunday Evenings, weekly Religious show on Sunday Mornings. Main music output is from the 60's, 70's and 80's, which goes by Northsound 2's slogan "The Music of Your Life".

Northsound Radio commenced broadcasting at 6am on the 27th of July 1981 from its original studios, which were in an old schoolhouse on Kings Gate, near Anderson Drive in the city. The original schedule only broadcast from 6am-8pm daily.

In 1995 the station split its services to become Northsound 1 and Northsound 2. Both stations now also broadcast on DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting – i.e. Digital Radio).

Northsound 2 broadcasts on 1035MW, and follows a 'classic golden oldie' style.

Northsound currently has 4 broadcast journalists with Sarah Campbell as Head of News & Sport. News bulletins are broadcast hourly throughout the day until 7pm and extended sport bulletins are featured at 8am, 1pm and 5.30pm.

Sports Editor is David Ridd and every Friday from 6pm 'Friday Sport' with John Mellis, David Ridd, Dave MacDermid and former Dons player Stewart McKimmie analyse the weekends sporting action across North East Scotland.

Traffic and Travel bulletins are broadcast during peak travel times (Breakfast and Drive).
