Newport Township is a township in Lake County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 4,142[1]. It includes the villages of Wadsworth, Old Mill Creek, Millburn, Russell,small portions of the Villages of Gurnee and Antioch, and a very small portion of the city of Zion.

Newport Township covers an area of 33.18 square miles (85.94 square kilometers); of this, 0.3 square miles (0.77 square kilometers) or 0.9 percent is water. Lakes in this township include Sterling Lake. The streams of Mill Creek, North Mill Creek and Pettibone Creek run through this township.
