Route 27 is a state highway in New Jersey, United States, running along the original alignment for U.S. Route 1. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 206 in Princeton (where it is called Nassau Street) at Bayard Lane; its northern terminus is at Broad Street/McCarter Highway or Route 21 in Newark. Besides Princeton, NJ 27 has local names in other municipalities as well. In New Brunswick, its is known as (north-south) Albany Street, French Street, and Somerset Street. In Highland Park, NJ 27 is known as Raritan Avenue. In Metuchen, it is known as (north-south) Middlesex Avenue, Lake Avenue, and Essex Avenue. In Edison, it is known as Lincoln Highway. In Rahway, Linden and Roselle, it is known as St. Georges Avenue. In Elizabeth it is known as Rahway Ave and in Newark it is also called Frelinghuysen Ave.
Route 27 crosses the Raritan River via the Albany Street Bridge, which connects Highland Park on the east with New Brunswick on the west.
NJ 27 was part of the alignment through New Jersey of the Lincoln Highway, America's first transcontinental highway. Residents in many municipalities (such as Edison) still refer to the highway locally as Lincoln Highway.

Route 27 begins at a traffic light with U.S. Route 206 in downtown Princeton. County Route 583 quickly leaves southwest after the intersection. The road moves through downtown Princeton, where it intersects with Country Route 571. Route 27 runs parallel to Carnegie Lake before leaving Princeton, at which point it crosses over the Millstone River. As it heads toward New Brunswick, the route serves as the boundary between Somerset and Middlesex County.
In New Brunswick, Route 27 crosses the Raritan River. It resumes heading northeast shortly thereafter, where it passes through Edison, intersecting Interstate 287, and then through Metuchen. Near Iselin, Route 27 intersects the Garden State Parkway. Finally, the route goes through Rahway and onto Elizabeth, where it begins heading nearly due north. Route 27 then ends in Newark.
