Meadowdale High School is a high school in the Edmonds School District, located in Lynnwood, Washington. The school has 1601 enrolled students in grades 9 through 12. Meadowdale competes 3A in the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association after two years as 4A between 2004-2006. The school's mascot is the Maverick, though prior to 1999 it was the "Chiefs"[1]

The school's schedule is based on a 100-minute, 3-period block schedule, consisting of 1st, 3rd, and 5th periods on Monday and Wednesday and 2nd, 4th, and 6th periods on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday, students go to all six classes for roughly 50 minutes each.

Meadowdale supports a variety of sports teams, playing in the WESCO South 3A league. Meadowdale's traditional rival in athletics is Edmonds Woodway High School

The Meadowdale football team is headed by Mark Stewart, former Huskies Linebacker and Minnesota Vikings player. Meadowdale finished the 2007 season with a 5-7 record, making it to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 1959 before losing to O'Dea High School.[2]

In 2004, the boys soccer team won the 3A state title beating Mt. Rainier 2-3 in extra time. The girls soccer team made it to the 3A state competition in 2007 for the first time in six years but lost to Kennedy of Burien 0-0 in the first round game.

Meadowdale enjoys a successful boys and girls basketball program. The girls are the most prostigious as they have won the 3A state title in 2000 and 2004 and runners up in 1994 and 1998. They have attended the tournament over 120 times.

[edit] Baseball

The baseball team has had success in the past winning the state title in 1999 over Hanford. Since then they had not made the state tournament until 2000 when the team made it to the state semi-finals before losing to eventual runners-up Auburn. They finished 7th. In the 2008 tourneyment, the team again made it to the semi-finals where they lost to Kelso and Issaquah in the 3/4 game. For the second straight year, the baseball team finished a respectable 7th place.
