I have found that checking incoming links to the following "articles" regularly is an easy way of finding large amounts of either blatant vandalism or test edits by new users:

It is the links to standalone years that should be delinked. Any date with a month and year SHOULD be linked so that the page will display the date according to the what the user has set in their [[Wikipedia:User preferences|User preferences]]. See [[Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Dates containing a month and a day]]. --~~~~
