McLennan is a town in northern Alberta, Canada. It is located 50 km (31 mi) north of High Prairie on Highway 2.
The town lies on the southern shore of Kimiwan Lake, and north of Winagami Lake. Winagami Lake Provincial Park is located 29 km (18 mi) south of McLennan.

According to the 2006 census:
- population of 824 living in 326 dwellings, a 2.5% increase from 2001.
- land area of 3.58 km² (1.4 sq mi)
- population density of 230.4/km² (596.7/sq mi).[1]

- Early 1900's: Homesteaders arrive in the area.
- 1914: The first settlement was named after Dr. John.K. McLennan who was involved with the Edmonton, Dunvegan, and British Columbia Railway.
- 1915: The first post office opened.
- 1929: The first Hospital was opened in December, 1929 and was named the Sacred Heart Hospital. It had 21 patient beds and later in 1952 it was expanded to include 37 beds. A new hospital was built in 1955 with a 62-bed capacity and many modern facilities.
- 1942: McLennan's strategic location along the railway and Highway 2 made the community important during the construction of the Alaska Highway.
- 1944: McLennan becomes a village.
- 1948: McLennan is incorporated as a town.

[edit] Sacred Heart Health Centre
The only hospital in the area, the Sacred Heart Health Centre was first opened in December, 1929. It had 21 patient beds and later in 1952 it was expanded to include 37 beds. A new hospital was built in 1955 with a 62-bed capacity and many modern facilities.

- Winter Family Fun Festival, held each year on the 3rd week in January.
- Annual Figure Skating Carnival held on the 3rd Sunday in March.
- Many ball tournaments are held during the summer as well as golf tournaments.
- Northern Woods and Water Route Caravan held in August.
[edit] Kimiwan Birdwalk
The Kimiwan Birdwalk (also known as the Birdwalk Interpretive Centre) is located on the west side of town adjacent to Highway 2 and is open May to October. The centre opened in 1992 and is visited by over 400 people a month to see the more than 200 species of birds by use of over 300 meters of paths and wooden walkways. Scenic Kimiwan Lake is recognized by the Alberta Province as an important waterfowl bird nesting and staging habitat and is now classed as a Natural Area.
