The preponderance of Stephanians in Indo-Anglian writing was so great for some time that some critics began to speak of the "St. Stephen's School of Literature". This issue has been heavily debated in the book The Fiction of St. Stephen's, by various writers and scholars, including Amitav Ghosh, Shashi Tharoor, Upamanyu Chatterjee, Mukul Kesavan, Khushwant Singh, Tapan Basu, Brinda Bose, etc. The book is edited by Aditya Bhattacharjea and Lola Chatterjee.
