The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2003 was the first Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged eight to fifteen. It was held on November 15, 2003, in Copenhagen, Denmark. With Camilla Ottesen and Remee as the presenters, the contest was won by the then eleven-year-old Dino Jelusić, who represented Croatia with his song Ti Si Moja Prva Ljubav (You Are My First Love). It was the first Eurovision to be broadcast in the 16:9 widescreen format. It was also the first Eurovision Song Contest where a DVD of the contest would be released. It was decided that the country that won the contest would not necessarily host the next contest, in order to reduce the pressure on the contestants.

[edit] Notes
[edit] Interval Acts
The half time entertainment was provided by 2 Acts from the UK. Busted performed Crashed The Wedding but Charlie Simpson was absent due to illness. However, the following day he was present for a radio interview in the UK where it was implied by both himself and the other band members that this was in fact a lie, and the real reason for his absence was that he hated Eurovision.
Sugababes performed Hole In The Head
[edit] Score sheet
The Voting The Opening vote at the JESC 2003 Came from Greece and saw the traditional handover of 12 points to the Cypriot jury, three quarters of Cyprus’ total tally would come from their Greek cousins.
The early jury voting would be pretty way-ward with only Spain taking above 7 points from the opening three juries giving them 26 points, to Belarus’ 23 point total. Belarus would vote next and give Tom Morley and the UK 12 to move them onto 30 points, but after a quarter of the votes it would be Spain who would hold the out-right lead on 32.
Spain then would make the early running, 12 from Latvia putting them 7 in front, whilst the top of the board kept changing as scores for each country came through. Sweden and the Dutch entry would see them joint 15th after 5 votes with 1 point apiece.
Spain would retain the lead until Norway voted as the procedure would reach its half way mark, 6 to Spain and 12 to Croatia would knock the Spainiards of their perch with Croatia on 70 points, Spain 66 and Belarus 65, more importantly Spain hadn’t voted. The United Kingdom and Denmark were the rest of the top 5 contenders. The House would be brought down when Spain declared, “Denmark, 12 points” following 1 and 2 point scores to Belarus and Croatia, Spain were back in the voting, with 10 points separating the top 4 countries.
After the United Kingdom had voted and 4 countries were left to do so, it seemed a race between Croatia on 100 points and Spain on 96, Belarus just trying to stay in contention with 83 points. The UK was on 76 and the next to vote Danes were in 5th on 72 points.
Croatia would increase their lead to 8 points with 2 8’s compared to 2 6’s for Spain 116-108, the UK had gone to third after 22 out of 24 score with Denmark moving onto 84 points, As the votes from Malta came in, 12 points for Tom and the UK wouldn’t be enough, and Spain and Croatia would be left to battle for the Dutch votes.
Spain were mentioned first, 7 points butting them onto 125, whilst the Croatians received no 8 points, if no 10 or 12 came up then Spain would be the champs. Croatia would get 10 points, settling the contest, and Belgium would get 12 to finish on 83. Croatia would be the first JESC winners.
