- Doesn't appear to be covered under the Fair Use rational; that template talks about "identification and critical commentary", which it doesn't appear to be used for. Am happy to reconsider if someone shows me how this is suitable FU. — Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 21:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC).
- Keep Image appears next to a paragraph that talks about Johnny Cage's appearance in the first Mortal Kombat film; considering we're talking about a video game character's adaptation to the big screen, I think that most definitely fulfills the "identification" bit, and the paragraph discusses various changes the character has between the two mediums. I'll see about writing up a proper Fair Use rationale for the image, but I don't think that this is a worthwhile candidate for IfD. EVula // talk // ☯ // 20:27, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Assuming you do as you say about FU rational, then I withdraw per the above. You may wanna check the other related IfDs, too. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 20:29, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Groovy. When I actually write it (I'm about to head out the door for a while, but I might do it later today or tomorrow), I'll go ahead and close the IfD. I'll check on the others, but my primary interest/concern is Mortal Kombat-related articles; given the ongoing FU purging and the fact that all of our images are Fair Use (can't easily make Free Use images of fictional characters), I've got plenty on my plate. :\ EVula // talk // ☯ // 20:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I think I only nommed two others for IfD, so they're the only urgent ones... Usually, you can get away with copy-paste FUs with one or two little changes for that particular image. Just do a few a day, you'll be there quicker than you realise. Would help, but FU rationales for anything other than images of disaster scenes aren't my strong point. - Delete. This fails WP:NFCC #8. The use of this image does not significantly increase the reader's understanding. howcheng {chat} 02:17, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- Keep
if a rationale is written now that I've written a fair use rationale - clearly any image of a fictional character is going to necessarily be fair use - It's a valid fair use to identify and comment critically upon the character and his appearence in said movie, and no free alternative can be created.
