Vote on Fir0002 FPC set

Hi Jjron,
I was wondering if you could spare the time to have a look at these. Thanks! --Fir0002 10:28, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to ask again so soon, but I've got another small set, with really minor differences, but differences I can't choose b/w! Thanks. --Fir0002 08:42, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Added two edits from people's comments. I'd appreciate if you could make a final choice between them. Thanks! --Fir0002 09:51, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Calibrating monitors

Since you didn't see the change in the fish fins, you should check the calibration image on FPC: If you have a flatscreen or laptop, the shadow detail may be impossible to get "right"... --Janke | Talk 08:05, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, you may have similar problems that many others have, the wiki server seems to be a bit wonky right now. Try purging the cache and reloading the page (purge link on FPC page). --Janke | Talk 08:19, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Ensay, Outer Hebrides

I've just expanded this slightly, but I don't understand the text that you added to the sketch of the chapel. I really can't comprehend the idea of 6th century convicts going on a boat trip. Did they even have convicts in 6th century Scotland? Could you possibly add some approximate date to the sketch?--JBellis 20:15, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry to ask again so soon, but could you please add your comments here? Thanks a lot --Fir0002 03:10, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind me asking, but could you please take a look at these? Thanks a lot --Fir0002 05:48, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Resp: Parliament house

Hi Jron, in response to your question, all the marble in the foyer comes from overseas. The gray/green marble in the collums is Italian (Chippolino?) the pink marble comes from Portugal, the white marble in the foyer floor is also Italian and the black Limestone on the floor with the geometric design is from Belgium. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . Editor Review 23:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations on the FP! Looks like they were waiting for me, so I'm glad I was able to swing the vote. Looks like you'll need to update your list of FPs on your user page. Keep up the great contributions! Matt Deres 23:07, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks again. Yes, with Debivort's 'weak' support it was sort of in a hazy position as to concensus, but your vote tipped the balance. I haven't actually uploaded any pics for quite a while, but have a load from the trip I just got back from which will supplement a lot of articles when I get the time to put them up. Could be a couple of more potential candidates in there. --jjron 14:40, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

WP:RD

Continuing our reference desk conversation, Rich Farmbrough has 163858 edits (see here)--- Pheonix15 16:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Jeez, makes you wonder... What are these people doing with their lives; surely a lot of them must have bots set up running under their names or something. How could you possibly do over 160,000 meaningful edits? And he's only been on since 2004. And you know what - out of the top 10, I've only seen two around, and I'm pretty sure at least one of those two, Can't sleep, clown will eat me, runs bots under his name. --jjron 07:21, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiScanner

I've already explained my rationale on the talk page for removing the overly long treatment of Australian government edits, which went on far longer than the treatment of any other organization. It was a textbook example of WP:UNDUE, and I even quoted the relevant section of the policy. Frankly, I think the article is headed for endless edit wars as partisans slam various organizations they don't like. I've tried to prevent this, but it looks like a losing cause. So I'm not going to edit the article any more. There are better ways to spend time on Wikipedia. Casey Abell 13:55, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Ensay is not Gaelic for Jesus

I have removed the claim that "Ensay" is Gaelic for Jesus. This is plain wrong. The island's name is Norse in origin. The only reason I can think of for this confusion is that someone muddled "Easaigh" with "Iosa", which is the real Gaelic for Jesus. --MacRusgail 15:20, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I'll have to tell Gardy there's an error in his book, cos that was the source for this. --jjron 12:17, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

About kaaba

You're welcome. You deserved it. Pictures of the kaaba are rare, because the Salafi ideology that flourishes in Saudi Arabia is against photography considering it to be forbidden. If you are caught taking photos, the guards snatch away your camera and break it right in front of your eyes. If you have a camera hone you can always wiggle out.

Thanks again for the help. Muhammad Mahdi Karim 12:53, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

BubbleNet

Thanks for your note about this image. I think that your edits were definitely an improvement. Don't work on the hi-res version yet, though. I'll try cleaning off the screen this weekend and taking a more better scan. How big do you reckon the file should be if I do a better job of figuring out my scanner?--Eva bd 13:55, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Well, I got a chance to clean off my scanner this evening. I took a smaller scan and I think that most of the fuzz is off the bed. If you're still willing to have a go, it can be found here. Thanks!--Eva bd 23:00, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
When you upload the new version, I will try doing the nomination. Nothing against you, but I figured it would be good for me to figure out how the process works from start to finish. Thanks again for your willingness to help.--Eva bd 13:17, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll only bind the evening I'm going on stage, which tends to be about 5-6 hours in costume, and then not make a habit of cross-playing >.< Kuronue | Talk 21:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Help please

I have these two pictures. I was told it is a migrant hawker. Do you think any one is suitable for nomination for FPC? Could you please help with any noise reduction, cropping...? Thanks, Muhammad Mahdi Karim 11:23, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Motorbikes, Phillip Island

Hi Jjron,
Do you remember if these bikes were 250's or 450's Image:Motorbike rider mono.jpg --Fir0002 08:51, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough - unfortunately I didn't remember to copy my wiki stuff to my laptop before going to Melb (left all my FPC's behind!) but at least I had the VCE camp photos. Motorbike still might be worth a shot --Fir0002 09:11, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Nah not really, except maybe the wind turbines. I uploaded that shot I took with that guys super-but-stuffed-with-teleconverter lens but even downsized to 1600 it's not really sharp enough. I think I might give that mono shot a go... --Fir0002 09:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Camel images

Jjron, I noticed you recently made a lot of changes to Camel. On 3 September I added two images to the site and left a message on the talk page. Since I know nothing about camels, I was hoping someone would be able to do something with them. They are pictures of baby camels. I was hoping someone could look at them and see if there is something special or important in them. I was thinking the baby camels could be useful to a certain part of the article, maybe. But recently someone deleted the image gallery on the camel page, so I will provide the links to them. Image:Camels in Dubai 1.jpg and Image:Camels in Dubai 2.jpg. If this did not make sense, please go to the Camel discussion page and scroll down all the way to the bottom for the New Photos section. If you have any questions just leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Leitmanp 19:39, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Jjron, thank you very much. I saw the images and their locations, and I know that I could not have done as well as you did. I appreciate it. And as for the source of the images and the uploader: Imre Solt took the photos, not me; I (Leitmanp on Wikipedia English and LoverOfDubai on Wikimedia Commons) uploaded the images and asked for them to be added to the article. Once again, thank you!! --Leitmanp 01:28, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Help again

Hi Sorry to disturb, but it seems I require your assistance once again. Please see the image . Do you think it can pass as fpc after a bit of noise reduction and tilt? Thanks Muhammad Mahdi Karim 16:40, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your honest opinion. I will try and see if I can get a shot. Regarding the dragonfly, I have got a better, clearer image. Will upload soon and show you. Thanks again. Muhammad Mahdi Karim 11:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Heres another picture I have taken, but unfortunately, once again no name?Do you know of any taxonomists here a wiki? You? Thanks --Muhammad Mahdi Karim 19:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Will ask Fir. Thanks. Can I have your opinion about the other dragonfly picture? Muhammad Mahdi Karim 18:13, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
