Early life
Prior to getting in the wrestling business, he worked as a youth counselor and a TV cameraman in Utah.[3]
Career
Ohio Valley Wrestling (2005-2006)
Reihir, as Deuce Shade, made his debut in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) on January 27, 2005, defeating Brent Albright.[2] On May 24, 2005, he defeated Chad Wicks in an OVW Television Championship tournament match. He later went on to beat Ken Doane in the tournament finals for the OVW Television Championship on June 7.[4] He ended up losing it to Doane later that month.[4] On August 24, Reiher won a #1 Contenders Battle Royal to earn the right to face OVW Champion Johnny Jeter later that night, but he lost this match.[5]
In January 2006, Reiher started teaming with Domino, calling themselves The Throw-backs.[6] It was at this time that Cherry Pie started accompanying them to the ring.[6] On March 19, Reiher defeated Mike Mizanin to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship for his team.[7] The team lost their titles on April 5, in a 3-way match to Roadkill & K.C James;[7] the match also involved Kenny & Mikey of the Spirit Squad. By the time they left OVW, The Throwbacks were 3 time OVW Tag Team Champions.[7]
SmackDown! (2007-present)
On the January 19, 2007 edition of SmackDown!, Deuce, his partner Domino, and their valet Cherry debuted with their 1950s greaser gimmick, squashing a jobber team,[8] and doing the same to another jobber team the next week.[9] On the February 2, edition of SmackDown!, they defeated WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick in a non-titles match.[10] They earned a chance at the championship at No Way Out, but failed to win the titles.[11] On the April 13 edition of SmackDown!, Deuce and Domino got a chance at the tag titles again, but lost after Deuce got them disqualified.[12] The next week on SmackDown!, they beat Kendrick and London to win the tag team titles. On the May 25 edition of SmackDown!, Kendrick and London competed against William Regal and Dave Taylor, but Deuce 'N Domino interfered by disqualifying Regal and Taylor.[13] This made both teams number 1 contenders, which led to a triple threat tag match the next week where Deuce 'N Domino retained the titles.[14] On June 24, Deuce and Domino issued an open challenge at Vengeance, which was accepted by Jimmy Snuka (Deuce's father) and Sgt. Slaughter.[15] Deuce and Domino retained their titles, albeit barely.[16]
On the June 29 edition of SmackDown!, Domino suffered an injury during a match with Cryme Tyme.[17] After the match, Cryme Tyme stole their car while they were celebrating in the ring.[17] On the August 31 edition of SmackDown!, he and Domino lost their tag team titles to Montel Vontavious Porter and Matt Hardy.[18][19]
