Early years

DiBiase grew up in Clinton, Mississippi, and attended Morrison Heights Baptist Church. Teddy, as he was known at Clinton, would graduate from Clinton High School in 2001. At Clinton, DiBiase was the football team's starting quarterback. He enrolled at Mississippi College in Clinton and was a starting wide receiver for Mississippi College's football team before leaving the squad following his freshman season. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Science and Business Administration.[2]

Career

After considering a career in the ministry, DiBiase and his older brother, Mike DiBiase II, decided to follow the path of their father and enter the wrestling business. Both brothers received training at the Harley Race's Wrestling Academy.[4]

DiBiase and Mike made their professional debut on July 8, 2006 for World League Wrestling (WLW), a wrestling academy run by former world champion wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race, in Eldon, Missouri.[3] DiBiase also wrestled in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH.

On July 24, 2007, Race announced that DiBiase had signed a developmental deal with World Wrestling Entertainment and that he would be training at their Florida Championship Wrestling Training Ground.

On December 18, 2007, DiBiase defeated TJ Wilson to win the FCW Southern Heavyweight Championship in New Port Richey, Florida.[5] DiBiase was unable to defend it due to injury, so he awarded the Championship to his partner Heath Miller in New Port Richey, Florida on January 19th.

Raw debut

DiBiase made his WWE television debut as a heel on May 26, 2008, where he cut a promo about his intent to become a champion like his father, Ted DiBiase, challenging Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly.[6]
