[edit] A start
I created a template for NZ schools. The data chosen were based on those given by the ERO, and on the TKI information page (TKI page is keyed on the Ministry of Education Institution number, for what it is worth), as well as the usual crest, motto.
It is not supposed to be specific to any one type of school.
To fill in the details I would suggest the use of the categories useed by the official Govt sites, e.g. Full primary, State Integrated etc. But these might not be useful to anyone who doesn't know the technical terms. But the NZ education page should explain those :-)
I will add it to the Welly High page now.
enjoy,

- I'll see what I can do about the MoE instituion number. I'll create a new field for the institution number ("MOE") and try to get it to generate an automatic TKI link. Mr Bluefin 10:09, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Other links
There could be a link to the ERO reports, NZQA Provider Page/Exam Results and a whole lot of other data. In particular I found the ERO linker on the TKI page for each school and added {{{MOE}}} in the appropriate place:
<form method="post" action="http://www.ero.govt.nz/ero/reppub.nsf/webadvancedsearchform?OpenForm&Seq=1" name="_WebAdvancedSearchForm" target="_blank"><input name="__Click" value="0" type="hidden"><input name="SearchText" value="{{{MOE}}}.htm" type="hidden"><input type="submit" value="ERO reports"></form>

[edit] coordinates, microformat
I've added an hcard microformat (see WP:UF) and tried, but failed, to add an optional "coordinates" property - can someone assist, please? Thank you. Andy Mabbett 17:54, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

- The coordinates field shows {{{coordinates}}} if none are defined (and AFAIK none are defined for most schools): surely this isn't the desired behaviour. I'd suggest reverting to something which works, and then testing before updating. Remeber that you are commiting someone to adding this data for all the schools which use this template, so think carefully about whether it adds any value. Neil Leslie 10:59, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] remove Category:Schools in New Zealand ?
Having the category automaticly is causing every school to be in the cat, even those which are in Category:Secondary schools in New Zealand instead. Can it be removed? - SimonLyall 09:09, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'd prefer to keep this category in the template, even though it is sometimes redundant, because it makes it very easy to detect vandalism to these articles via "Related changes".-gadfium 09:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt there are going to be more than a couple of major subcats. Perhaps they could be included instead? I guess there is a precident with "living people" but it is a little messy. Not extremely urgent though - SimonLyall 10:17, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Principal_label
Would it be possible to add 'principal_label' analogous to 'head_label' and 'head' in Infobox UK school? That would be better than adding the real title of the principal in brackets after the name, as has been done for Waitaki Boys' High School. It should default to Principal, of course, so as not to disturb the articles that already use it. Coyets 11:09, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Seems like a good idea to me. Feel free to do it.-gadfium 19:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Automatic Category
This template appears to automaticly add any article that uses it into Category:Schools in New Zealand. Is this the desire result when an article is already is several subcategories of this parent category? See St. Joseph's Catholic School (Fairfield) that is also in the following sub categories:
