My name is Mark T.-S., and I live in the state of Massachusetts of the United States of America. I was born in Boston. Both of my parents were born in Portugal. I have traveled to 34 states of the U.S. (including Massachusetts and the District of Columbia), Portugal, Canada, Spain, Bermuda, St. Martin, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. I have been a registered user on Wikipedia since about June 18, 2007, although I was mostly inactive July - Dec. 2007. So far, I have created 10 pages, and have uploaded 1 media file.

[edit] Languages Spoken

As you can see from the Babel box, I am a native speaker of English, a near-native speaker of Portuguese, an intermediate speaker of Spanish, a basic speaker of French, and a (very) basic speaker of Italian. I have known how to speak English and Portuguese since I was only a few years old. I am taking my first year of Portuguese this year. I took two years of French in middle school. I have never been taught Spanish or Italian. However, I know how to speak Spanish because of its similarity to Portuguese, and Italian because it is also a Romance language, along with Portuguese, French, and Spanish. I am able to read and write in English, Portuguese, and French, and to read in Spanish and Italian.

My general interests include learning about history, reading, writing, and traveling. Of course, I also use my computer frequently. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I'm not what you would call an athletic person, but I do play golf in the summer and tennis in the spring/summer, and often play makeshift games of basketball and football with my friends.

[edit] Genealogy

Recently, my family and I have been extensively researching our genealogy. Our ancestry is mostly Portuguese, which we knew. However, we have also found out that we also have Spanish, Dutch, German, Bavarian, French, Scandinavian, Celtic, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. We are direct descendants of the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques.

Currently I am attending a public high school in Massachusetts. After graduating, I hope to study architecture, although I have not decided/planned which college I will go to.
