[edit] Personality
Hikitsu is very withdrawn, almost to the point of being cold, to everyone apart from his sister Ayla and his best friend Tomite. He did not, at first, want to be part of the Miko's group as he was guarding his frozen little sister, but after their reunion and a persuasive speech from Tomite, he agrees. He proves to be an invaluable friend and companion over the course of the series.
Although he initially had few notable interactions with his fellow seishi (with the exception of Tomite and a particular fondness for Namame), as the series progresses he slowly begins to open up to them. Aside from being the voice of reason when things get too dangerous, he had shown some brotherly concern to Hatsui in Chapter 23, backing up Inami's advice that it would be better for him to leave the battle in order to search for Takiko and the others. In the same chapter, it's also shown that he and Inami could work effectively as a team (even exchanging a few banters and checking on each other) when they defended the villagers against the Kutou army.
In the main Fushigi Yūgi canon, he and Tomite are seen to be guarding the Shinzaho (the oracle Anlu's necklace) after they die and are confronted by the Suzaku Seven, as well as several less fortunate people before them. Like Tomite, he is serious about his duties to protect the Shinzaho, however, unlike Tomite, he speaks freely to Miaka and her warriors about the Shinzaho.
