[edit] Welcome back!

Hey, great to see you back. You probably don't even remember me, but you helped me when I was new — you uploaded a photo for my user page (not the one that's on it now). I left your page on my watchlist and often wondered what had become of you. I've changed my user name (security), but we came across each other at Pope Benedict XVI. Cheers. AnnH 20:51, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

And by the way, perhaps you should remove your name from here! AnnH 23:41, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the warm welcome back, Ann! Gerald Farinas 23:54, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2016 Summer Olympics

Your many edits sound kind of surprising, because it's only 2006 (as opposed to 2008, which is the year I originally thought was going to be the year in which the choices for the Summer Olympics will be narrowed.) It must be evidence that Chicago will very likely be among the 5 cities that will still be possible candidates for the games as of 2008. Georgia guy 01:16, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joseph James Fern

"Not unusual in the native Hawaiian community at the time, Fern practiced bigamy and had three wives."

Where did you get the information that Fern practiced bigamy?

Victoria Kukahilihiapoaliilani is my great grandmother.

[edit] 2016 Summer Olympics

The picture you just added (which I believe was mentioned to be Houston's flag) must have some typo because of how it showed up when I studied your edit; it was just a rectangle with a red X in the upper left corner which as I'm sure you know means "It does not exist". Georgia guy 21:53, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Now, I practiced with the image name in the sandbox and it appears that the image with a flag and a star appears. Georgia guy 21:56, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canada Summer Olympics

There is a question about the Canada Summer Olympics that I wrote on the talk page of Canadian Olympic Commitee. Can you answer it?? Georgia guy 23:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lakeview, Chicago

My most sincere apologies for accidentally deleting the the reference section of the Lakeview, Chicago article. My browser has been giving me issues lately, where it will abruptly stop loading a certain section of an article while I'm editing it. I'm assuming the mishap happened while I was either reverting or correcting a certain part of the article --ShadowJester07 22:01, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diocesan Infobox

To the creators of Diocesan/Archdiocesan articles

I have proposed at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Catholicism an infobox for Catholic Dioceses. I have not gotten any feedback on this proposal, so I’m culling feedback, advice, corrections, etc. for this. If you have the time, would you check out User:SkierRMH/Diocese_Infobox and give me some feedback! Thanks much!!

We are right now discussing at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Catholicism/Diocese about the an example outline for diocese articles, and also what infobox to use. Maybe you'd like to join there. andy 17:15, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New WikiProject Illinois Collaboration Division

Hey, saw you were a participant in the Illinois WikiProject. I thought I would let you know that there is a new Collaboration Division up for the project. The goal of the division is to select an article or articles for improvement to Good article standard or higher. There is a simple nomination process, which you can check out on the division subpage, to make sure each candidate for collaboration has enough interested editors. This is a good way to get a lot of articles to a quality status quickly. Please consider participating. More details can be seen at the division subpage. IvoShandor 11:27, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dorothy Day

Hi, can you upload the image [1] of Dorothy to Commons, so that we van use it in the other wikis?--Domingo Portales 22:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aloha

Aloha e Gerald. Mahalo nui loa for creating the Wiki Project Hawaii. Much mahalo to you. I added myself as a member after an admin suggested I do so because of a debate in which I was involved regarding Hawaiian Music and their copyrights. Please, let me know what to get started on so that I can be an asset to this project. A hui hou! Kanaka maoli i puuwai 00:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page Protection

Aloha Gerald. What is the proper way to request protection for a page that is the subject of constant revert wars and edit wars? Please steer me in the right direction. Mahalo nui! Kanaka maoli i puuwai 03:19, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Jers, Mahalo for the kind words and the response. I think for now, the pages in question are somewhat back to normal. But I will let you know in the future if any problems still exists. Kanaka maoli i puuwai 18:28, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WPChi Barnstar

What do you know about creating barnstars. We need a barnstar specifically for contributions to WP:WPChi. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 17:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chicago Meetup

I am not sure if you live in Chicagoland, but I see you have edited Chicago quite a bit. If you are not from Chicago I apologize for the following message. A Chicago Meetup has been scheduled. I hope the time and place are convenient. Your reply would be appreciated.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 19:51, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Illinois 2007 Census

The WikiProject Illinois 2007 membership census has concluded. If you did not add your name during the last week, you were declared "inactive" in the project, your name is still listed at The Participants Page. You can change your status by replacing {{member inactive}} with {{active}} in the table. Any members should also feel free to fill in any missing details on the list below.

[edit] Hawaiian diacritics

Don't know if you've seen this (and you may be sick of these discussions), but as a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Hawaii, you might want to comment on the current proposal in the Wikiproject Hawaii MOS [2]; User:Erudy has posted a "modest proposal" to basically eliminate all diacritics from Hawaiian articles, except for a citation at the beginning. Right now there are only 4 comments, evenly split. As far as I can tell all of those supporting it haven't contributed to Hawaiian articles, so it would be disturbing if they claimed victory when hardly anyone who is actually from or connected to Hawaiʻi has put in their voice. [edit] Semi-Protect Makati City

Gerald, you may have noticed that the article about Makati City was vandalized many times over. I urgently advise you to semi-protect the said article against vandlism until the end of the month. Please go to my talk page if you want to fulfil or deny my request. Thank you in advance. iaNLOPEZ1115 TaLKBaCK Vandalize it UBX 10:08, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Chicago Portal

Greetings. I've noticed that the Chicago Portal needs a coordinator. I'm on here editing and watching things pretty much 6 nights a week, and I've been contributing to WP for a few years and quite enjoy doing so. I don't know if you're the person I need to ask, but if you are, I'd like to volunteer my services as a coordinator. In any case, please let me know. Thank you Ryecatcher773 (talk) 08:46, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gay Christian task force

Hi Gerald -- Non-Meta Steve here. Do you think there'd be enough folks interested in putting together a task force to get better coverage of GLBT Christianity? Aristophanes68 (talk) 03:11, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] William M. Daley

I see you have a history of working on the article William M. Daley. I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. Can you please restore the templates at the top of the old talk page and put the Organ-related link on the talk page as well? The organ link was on the old talk page in one of my comments, and may prove notability beyond the Chicago area. Also, please copy my comment at the bottom of the old talk page regarding notability. Thanks. When I pointed out the (c) problems, I didn't mean to put you to so much work. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 16:37, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
