[edit] Compatibility Dispute
I bought an FC Twin just recently and Mario RPG does in fact run on it, a friend of mine who also bought an FC Twin quite awhile ago also can play Mario RPG with no trouble. I've added (Disputed.) to the Wiki, but perhaps All FC's can play it and the OP is incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.209.13.173 (talk) 04:25, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Are games really that incompatible? (Aligning the pins)
Yes, I've tested Castlevania III and it doesn't work. But that list on this page is odd, because I have some of those games that are supposedly "incompatible". For a while I didn't even bother with Tetris (NES), and thought it was incompatible. Some sources also said it wasn't able to play on their Twins, either. Well, tonight I tried something - I got the cart, pushed in the right side only, making sure all the pins were aligned, then put the rest of the cart in. Success. I pulled the cart out and put it in how I would do any other normal game working on my FC Twin (just putting the card in with one hand in the center) - it went right back to garbled garbage. I tried my right-pin-alignment trick again and it worked. I've done this over and over. So maybe we could try that with some games? Make sure a certain side is aligned with the pins before shoving the cart in? I haven't had SNES compatibility problems but if one does come up I'll give that a try on the 16-Bit player. [edit] Japanese compatability?
Someone told me that this famiclone is capable, without mod, to play both American and Japanese carts. I've been unable to confirm this anywhere but I am hardly a seasoned researcher. If there's any truth to this, shouldn't it be included?
Should be "compatible" with Famicom games as with any NOAC clone, really, but you'd need a pin converter. Hardware doesn't match up normally. But they can run PAL NES carts with no issues. As to SNES, I really don't see why not since the US SNES and SFC were pretty much identical inetrnally. Unsure of PAL requirements though...206.162.192.39 23:28, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- ... but to play SFC games you'll have to remove the 2 plastic tabs from the cartridge slot. seriously no idea why whoever made this console decided those had to be there...206.162.192.39 20:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Who makes this?
There is no company listed. And at the History of video game consoles (seventh generation) article, it says the manufacturer is unknown. Wuffyz 23:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I suspect it's Yobo, but there's no manufacturer listed. --John Moser 23:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SNES PAL compatibility
Received Starwing(UK Starfox). It works but I'm getting some glitches in the center of the screen. May just be dirt though.... sound works but you get the black borders. Controls respond. Will update this later when I get a stronger cleaner206.162.192.39 02:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting, I haven't gotten the US Starfox to work at all, just a black screen. Timbatron 16:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] NES Compatibility
I'll hold off adding this unless if anyone else confirms the problems, but on my FC Twin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade and Mike Tyson's Punch Out seem to play fine, but L'Empereur, which is good shape and played in a regular NES, doesn't want to play in my FC Twin. If anyone else can verify that this or other games are incompatible, I think we should create an incompatible list. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles 21:12, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
I guess you mean Mike Tyson's Punch Out? At any rate, NOACs and other clones are often incompatible with certain games as those games use specialized chips and such. Castlevania III, black Tengen carts(unsure of the gray licensed versions) and the Aladdin Deck Enhancer do not work on the Yobo systems so I expect the same here. Keep in mind this system uses 2 chipsets- one NES, one SNES. They work independently of each other.206.162.192.39 03:38, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- The Batter Up baseball bat controller for the Super NES doesn't seem to work either! :( --24.154.173.243 19:03, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- People tend to report that working... try yours in another system and make sure your bat works right. Granted, there COULD be variations between production runs206.162.192.39 02:51, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- Perhaps that could be discussed here BatterUP, but in any case, it didn't work for me on the FC Twin or the Super NES. Is there a trick to getting this thing to work or something? Does it need batteries or anything?! If there's anything whacky about how to make the bat work, perhaps it's worth noting. Thanks! --164.107.223.217 21:29, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

- There is an incompatibility list for another NES clone at http://www.playmessiah.com/products/nex/compatibilitylist.htm and this list has L'empereur on it, so maybe the clones just don't play that game? Best, --164.107.223.217 01:57, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

- I've noticed that quite a few games are incompatible with my FC twin. This should be mentioned, considering this article almost reads like an advert. Also, calling this "legal" is not a judgment we can make. This is definately a gray market device since it's legal status is questionable: http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20051111/boyd_01.shtml Timbatron 02:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

- Specifically, I couldn't get starfox working, and there were others but I don't remember which ones. I'll test later to see. Unfortunately we can't really put this information on the main page since it's original research. Timbatron 16:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

What is the video and audio quality of this clone? Can anyone provide specifics (graphical glitches, wrong colors, screwed up sound, off-key music, etc.)? 24.98.201.149 01:42, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Audio seems fine to me, and the games that work seem to work just fine. The video unfortunately, seems to overdrive the composite output. The result is that bright white is brighter than it's supposed to be by NTSC standards it seems. Bright colors bleed over to the right and the image is a bit distorted. I've tried this on analog and digital screens with composite input, so it's definately an issue with the signal, not that screen (this is probably something that should be added to the article). I'm thinking a resistor inline to bring the voltage level down a bit (darkening the image) should work, but I'm no EE, so I dont know if it'd work. Timbatron 02:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- Use some thicker output cables. My sound overdrove the cables that came with the Twin, they're very thin. Some $12 thick cables fixed it. Super-ultra-monster-$800-cables won't make awesomeness over good quality cables, but crappy cheap cables can make things suck ;)
[edit] Compatibility: Original research?
Anyone want to comment on whether we should be listing games compatible with this system? It seems like original research to me. I don't specifically want to remove it, since it's useful information to me, but if we can source this somewhere, that'd be nice. Timbatron 16:45, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Keep it as it is INCREDIBLY useful! Best, --Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles 17:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- WP:IAR. If the game doesn't work, it DOESN'T WORK. The "it doesn't exist unless some reputable third-party source covers it" is trash. I'd also like to know why Super Mario 2 is disputed, because I saw a video on youtube that showed this game was in fact unplayable on the FC Twin.216.37.86.10 17:54, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I played through and beat Super Mario 2 (NES and All-Stars) on my FC-Twin. --John Moser 17:01, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- There's certainly information out there regarding compatibility, but the majority of it seems to come from forum postings, which fails on basic reliability concerns. Some review sites touch upon compatibility, but most of these are only slightly more reliable than your average forum posting. And many of these are inconclusive anyway: there's reports that some copies of Super Mario Bros. 2 work on the system, but that others won't... probably. It's all very vague and imprecise, which makes it problematic as a citation anyway. – Sean Daugherty (talk) 05:00, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Compatibility strangeness
I've got 2 copies of Dragon Warrior. Both work in my NES; one doesn't work in the Twin. I don't see why. --John Moser 16:09, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

- See if the one not working needs a good cart cleaning - a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol should do the trick. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.38.112.142 (talk) 06:41, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Question
Can it play one game? Zeldabalooney2006 08:04, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
-- It can hold two games at a time but only play one at a time. SZF2001 (talk) 15:06, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reference needed for this statement
Super Mario RPG won't work on the fc twin
If someone can find the reference and then add it into the article, that would be better than making claims without a reference to back them up, thanks. Ariel♥Gold 05:58, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] AutoFire Buttons on the FC Twin controller
So the FC Twin controllers are lame to play a SNES game with. the A and X buttons have a auto fire on them, that messes up some control in certain games. Imagine "super Mario world"'s spin jump not going very high and it just keeps doing the jump as long as the button is pushed. Other games it actually breaks the functionality as you need to use the A button for charging a skill and it will not charge the skill as the button is never on continuously.
I am debating opening the controller back up and cutting one of the connections coming from those two buttons. The B and Y buttons only have two connections leaving them, the A and X have 3. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.183.242.20 (talk) 05:03:45, August 19, 2007 (UTC)
-
- What auto buttons are you talking about? On my NES games while using a SNES controller, I don't have the same option of autofire buttons like on the Yobo FC autofire buttons. Are you using a not-official SNES controller? SZF2001 (talk) 00:21, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Are you guys sure about the compatibility list?
I've got Mario RPG and BatterUp working on the FC Twin, as well as my Super Boy (for future reference, if ever needed, but that's beside the point)... Haven't tried Kirby or Castlevania but I think this Wiki should be updated a bit. It should be debated on titles that actually work, rather than saying "DUDES THIS GAME DON'T WORK FOR REAL" when I have proof otherwise.
Also, that first comment leading to that zelda site seems questionable... are there more than one versions of the FC Twin? Is it people trying to profit off of Yobo, since they officially created them? I've noticed systems without the jewel seem to have a purple haze in SNES games while the ones with the jewels don't. I work at GameStop btw and we have these come and go so I've just noticed them over time... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.38.112.142 (talk) 22:07, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- The Super BatterUp game seemed to work for me, but not the baseball bat shaped controller. Is there some kind of trick to that? Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 23:15, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
-
- The bat works for me. I just plug it in and it's going. Seriously. No tricks... Super Scope works too, but it was at a friends house and we had a "NO U!" contest in terms of the Twin being able to handle the scope or not kind of thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.38.112.142 (talk) 02:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

- The Bat from BatterUp works. The mouse from Mario Paint works. The Super Scope works. This is all tested on my FC Twin, I know that doesn't sound like the greatest source, but you've gotta believe me. Also, there is a YouTube video showing off StarFox on the FC Twin (even though the quality seems to change, like the backround color of the sky). I can't access it right now on the school computer, I'll dig it up in a little bit at home. So that kind of dampers the compatibility list. SZF2001 (talk) 19:46, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] E.V.O.: Search for Eden
Someone needs to test this with a cartridge that works on a regular SNES. Problems with saving files on old cartridges are normally associated with a dead battery in the cartridge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.208.119.150 (talk) 21:40, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
