European Open (golf)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The European Open is a European Tour golf tournament. It was founded in 1978 and up to 1994 it was played at various courses in England, except in 1979, when it took place at Turnberry in Scotland. From 1995 to 2007 it was played at K Club in Straffan, Ireland, and in 2008 it will move to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Heritage course at The London Golf Club in Kent, England. It has become an important tournament on the Tour, and in 2007 the total prize money was £2,400,000, putting it in the leading group of European Tour events outside of the major championships and the three individual World Golf Championships events.
