The Dubai Desert Classic is an annual professional golf tournament which will be contested in 2008 from January 28 - February 3rd. It takes place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and is part of the European Tour schedule. It was inaugurated in 1989 and was the first European Tour event in the Middle East. It is played on the "Majlis" course at Emirates Golf Club, although it moved to Dubai Creek Golf Club for two years in 1999 and 2000. Ernie Els has won the Desert Classic the most times, with three wins. The main sponsor of the event is DUBAL Aluminum, with co-sponsors consisting of Omega, National Bank of Dubai, Jumeirah Golf Estates, CNN, Emaar, Emirates Airlines, BMW and Gulf News.

The event is notable for attracting some of the biggest stars in the world of golf with the assistance of generous appearance fees.
