No Spamming, No Swearing, No Vandalism. I'm open for discussion about any of my posts. If anyone has any ideas for the Durham, Ontario article, that would be greatly appreciated. I am picking up a history book about Durham the next time I go home and plan to expand the article to hopefully an ever-impressing size. DMighton 06:23, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] KIJHL

Thanks for taking care of the Columbia Valley Rockies. I'll make the Chase Chiefs when more info becomes available. SportingFlyer 07:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

There's not as much information out there online as far as I can tell but I'm up for them. I'm not going to be around much for the next two or three months though so it could be slow. SportingFlyer 07:42, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Western Ontario Hockey League

First, I thought you'd find this interesting ... List of WOHL alumni with links to hockeydb profiles. Second, I can't find the WOHL listed anywhere. Is it still on the to-do list, or am I looking in the wrong spot? Thanks ColtsScore 14:26, 12 June 2007 (UTC) Actually, I just found the WOHL at Western Junior B Hockey League. I've created redirects to the current article from "WOHL" and "Western Ontario Hockey League". ColtsScore 14:32, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pacific International Junior Hockey League

I went ahead and made stubs for the rest of the Pacific International Junior Hockey League teams. I don't know how long they will last without some sort of interesting facts about the teams or their alumni, but it may save the images for a while longer. Could you take a look at them and see if you can flush out the articles at least a little? ~ BigrTex 21:55, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IHW

Hey Devan,

I began recrafting the look of the hockey wikia, so far I added a background and a couple little things; let me know what you think. That's just a beginning, there are more changes I want to make, including a real logo (but Belfour with a Sens puck in the eye has class, lol), images in the articles background and customize various other things like the search box; I'm not too sure how to do these all yet, though.

If you have suggestions or feedback...

[edit] RE:Jadger/Goderich Pirates

Don't you think we should improve the infobox then? nothing on wikipedia after all is a finished product, we should always be improving on it. Most, if not all NHL and OHL teams have a mascot, so why not have a line in the infobox for it? I'm not sure where it would be warranted in the article of many longer articles than the Goderich team, which is why I think it would be best in the infobox. After all, unless there is some importance to the mascot (say, historical event or a newsworthy kidnapping of a mascot) I dont see a section being made up in team articles.

[edit] SIJHL

Didn't mean to insult there. I know where the incorrect number of shots came from actually, it was incorrectly listed as such by the SIJHL. Not the fault of anyone on Wikipedia.

If there's something specific in terms photos one might need about the SIJHL I might have something to provide. Let me know. <Justinholmes (talkcontribs) 22:29, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. It really was something else for nine fights to break out in a matter of seconds in that game. Meant to get those photos up earlier but life got in the way.

[edit] Replacement of: SIJHL Canada-US Map.png with SVG

I replaced Image:SIJHL Canada-US Map.png with Image:SIJHL Team Locations.svg, the latter being a scalable vector graphic. If there are any inaccuracies, or if any changes need to be made to the map, just let me know and I'll fix it. If you have any other maps similar to this one that need to be converted, let me know and I'll see what I can do. :) vıdıoman (talkcontribs) 04:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

The other maps aren't bad, they're just out of date (as in their format and colour, not their content). They'll require zooming in, which will expose everyone to the jagged and inaccurate district boundaries I've made, but they won't be too much work. :) vıdıoman (talkcontribs) 04:42, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
I fixed the GMHL image; If they don't appear properly, click here to purge the image's cache. vıdıoman (talkcontribs) 10:34, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
GOJHL Map -- Seems to be good, anyway we could get all of "Fort Erie" on the map or shrink the text in the Key to fit inside the key box?
If you click on the image and view it by itself, that text appears as it should. The text not fitting is a problem with how the svg is rendered. It isn't an image of text, but text itself, and if you look at the graphic by itself and use ctrl and + or -, it will change the size of the text. The only things that can fix that are either making the text smaller, and requiring people to click the image to read it (which we are supposed to generally avoid, but can be difficult to achieve on maps), or we can make it a png image of the svg (something else we try to avoid, but it can be done.) I'll look into both of those later today.
I'll look into any other maps once I finish these ones. My current maps should be able to handle the US teams, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll fix the typoes right away. :) vıdıoman (talkcontribs) 20:56, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Good job, I like them. After you do the OPJHL, if you are still interested, the Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League could use a map update... and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League might benefit from it. Just a thought. DMighton 20:06, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article parameter on fairuse rationale template

Hi DMighton, I noticed that BetacommandBot is having fun with a number of your images. The images are missing the 'Article' parameter (indicating which article this images is used in). I already started filling it in at Image:Barrie Flyers Sr.JPG and Image:Camrose Kodiaks RBC 2007.JPG. [edit] Revamp templates

Devan, I am proposing changing all templates in WikiProject Ice Hockey to the "collapsible navbox" format. These templates would have a hide/minimize option, but no image in the upper right corner. See examples at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Templates#Templates. Any ideas? Flibirigit 18:07, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

I thought the collapsible templates were standard policy anyways... lol. Sounds like a good idea to me... we might as well get our foot up on this now. DMighton 18:33, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Simcoe Storm

A tag has been placed on Simcoe Storm requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Re: AJHL

I don't have the full list online, but I do have the 07-08 AJHL record book. Are there any specific seasons or teams you are looking for? Resolute 01:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Basically just the entire list of standings... I am doing season article on the Ice Hockey Wikia... thought I would post the AJHL's. Can you e-mail it to me? DMighton (talk) 01:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do, though it may be a few days. I'm very busy helping out with the Macs Tourney the next two days. If I have to type it in myself, I might just add the standings myself on the Ice Hockey Wikia. I hadn't even realized you had that up and running. Resolute 01:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
You wont find those seasons from the 60s. Back in the day, the president of the AJHL got into a tiff with the rest of the league, left, and took all of the records and stats with him. The AJHL site itself didn't even have anything prior to 1969-70. I'm surprised hockeydb.com has what they do. I'll get you the three seasons from the 90s soon, probably tomorrow. Resolute 15:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
The two missing years will probably be in a newspaper somewhere I imagine. DMighton (talk) 18:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I've added the three seasons from the AJHL guide for you. I might poke around from time to time, but not sure how much editing I'll do off the main Wikipedia in the near future. Good luck with the project though! Resolute 02:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blake Parlett

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Blake Parlett, which you proposed for deletion, because its deletion has previously been contested or viewed as controversial. Proposed deletion is not for controversial deletions. For this reason, it is best not to propose deletion of articles that have previously been de-{{prod}}ed, even by the article creator, or which have previously been listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article, but feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! TonyBallioni (talk) 23:59, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I've replied to your question at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ice Hockey#Blake Parlett. If you have any other questions, feel free to leave them on my talk page. - Rjd0060 (talk) 17:43, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Delhi Travellers

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Delhi Travellers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] AJHL standings

Yup, I will be updating them when the regular season completes. Kind of a tough year for the local teams though... One is going to miss the playoffs, while the other two are going to meet in the first round. And the Calgary Canucks are just going to get smoked by Okotoks... Resolute 14:55, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter

Dear DMighton! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in October, there have been many new changes. I'm hoping to make this newsletter a bit more regular; Kaiser matias and Skudrafan1 asked for a new issue a week ago, but sadly, I've been a bit lazy and committed to other things hence this other delay. --Maxim(talk)

Task forces

By Maxim

There was a new taskforce created within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Boston Bruins. It was originally founded as a separate WikiProject, but was quickly turned into a taskforce within WikiProject Ice Hockey. The list of participants is located here. Located at WP:BRUINS, the taskforce's goals are to make Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr featured articles. Good luck!

New Administrators

By Maxim
Since October, there have been three new admins promoted within the project:

A previously admin-only feature has been made available for all users. The rollback feature allows a user to quickly revert vandalism with one click. If you wish to have rollback, contact an active admin or post a request to WP:RFR.

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY.

Notes

  • More editors are needed to help out with the newsletter. Maxim doesn't have an infinite nor perfect supply of ideas, and thus he might omit some interesting news.
  • Portal:Ice hockey is being considered for featured status. Feel free to nominate features at Portal:Ice hockey/Suggestions.
  • Should Chris Pronger have been suspended for more than eight games for stomping on Ryan Kesler? Vote here!
