The Columbus Sports Network (CSN) is a cable and broadcast television station, exclusive to the Columbus, Ohio market, that launched on March 24, 2007. CSN is Central Ohio's first and only continuous all-sports television station, broadcasting events, features, highlights and news on professional, collegiate, scholastic and amateur sports teams in the area.

CSN broadcasts over the air on Channel 32 (using the call letters WCSN-LP) and is available on all the local cable television systems. Insight broadcasts the network on Channels 78 and 524, WOW broadcasts it on Channel 97 and Time Warner Cable carries it on Channel 78.

CSN plans to broadcast approximately 400 live events each year, including Columbus Motor Speedway, Columbus Crew, Columbus Destroyers (home games), Columbus Clippers (select games), minor Ohio State University sports (including baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, and tennis), College Lacrosse and Baseball from universities from the OAC and NCAC, high schools from the OHSAA, Canadian Football, and various other events.

In the first-ever telecast on CSN, the Destroyers lost 55-47 to the Chicago Rush on March 24.

The Columbus Sports Network launched a nightly 30-minute show called Sports Columbus on December 21, 2007. It spotlights local sports highlights, news, and features of the day from Central Ohio. The new show is be co-anchored by Ray Crawford and Dionne Miller. Sports Columbus runs live at 10:00 PM (Eastern) Monday through Friday, with scheduled rebroadcasts the following day.


[edit] Suspending Live Telecast

On June 7th, 2008, it was announced that the Columbus Sports Network was suspending televised operations of the AFL's Columbus Destroyers. In a statement, Chief Operating Officer Randy Nungester stated: "The Columbus Sports Network is suspending production operations while it explores potential changes in its business model. WCSN will continue to air pre-recorded programming while these business decisions are being considered. We appreciate those in the community who have been supportive of WCSN."
