[edit] Aoife

"... Aoife (an Irish variant of Eve)." No, it is'nt. Its an entirely Irish name that just happens to sound similar to Eve, and has thus being confused with it ever since Strongbow married Aoife Ni Murchada in 1170. So I'm going to according amend the wording. Fergananim 18:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pronunciation

(pronunciation: /kɪˈɛra:n haɪndz/ or Kee-uh-rawn, with the 'uh' barely spoken; the name is Anglicised as Kieran, pronounced Keer-an where the long 'a' of the Irish is shortened)

The above was snipped from the article. /ˈɛ/ means a stressed short e as in "bed". --Kjoonlee 11:01, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Instead of removing it entirely, do you know how to fix it? I think we should have SOME indication of pronounciation, since so many people misprounce his name. Nuclare 11:55, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, I moved it to the talk page instead of removing all mention of it.. ;) If someone knows where you can hear his name then I guess people could write proper IPA after hearing that. --Kjoonlee 18:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Or if you can upload a recording, that would be nice as well. --Kjoonlee 19:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
There's a sound file linked at the bottom of the article to Hinds pronouncing his name (from an audio book, I imagine). Its said there with the Anglicised pronounciation. Nuclare 03:08, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
You could stick the lengthy pronunciation guide into a footnote after the IPA transcription. Cheers, Jacklee 22:42, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
