Newton Emerson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Newton Emerson is a political commentator in Northern Ireland. He describes himself as a 'liberal Unionist'.[1] Despite this, he writes in two Nationalist-leaning newspapers, the Northern Irish edition of the Daily Mirror, and The Irish News.[2] He also contributes to The Irish Times.

He first came to prominence as the editor of The Onion-like website, Portadown News. After being 'outed' by the Andersonstown News, he was forced to leave his job in a computer company,[1] but maintained the website until 2005.[3]
