[edit] History
The school was opened in 1891, built at a cost of £1500 with a building, gymnasium and 5 classrooms, to accommodate 100 students. Today, the school operates under the governance of the Trustees of the Christian Brothers, with a student population of 1100. The school is inseparable from its suburb of Lewisham, New South Wales, and from the order of Christian Brothers that has run it for over 100 years, founded by Edmund Rice which traces its beginnings back to the schools for the poor youth of Ireland in the early 19th century.
