Tim Pickup

Tim Pickup (born in Sydney, New South Wales) was an Australian rugby league player for the North Sydney Bears, Canterbury Bulldogs, New South Wales and for the Australian national side.

He played two Tests against New Zealand in 1972 partnering Tommy Raudonikis in the halves, a combination which was regularly considered by selectors over the next two seasons.

Pickup then toured with the 1973 Kangaroos and played in 4 Tests and 14 tour matches. He generally played at five-eighth, though he was selected at halfback in the 2nd Test against France.

Pickup's last test was the 3rd against the touring Great Britain side in 1974. He injured his knee badly during the 1975 World Series, missing the rest of 1975, and also the entire 1976 season.

Domestically, Pickup played for the North Sydney Bears from 1972-1974. In 1975 he joined Canterbury and angered Bears fans by taking young centre Keith Harris with him. He was surprisingly named ahead of Rex Harrison as pivot in the Bears team of the century.
